Breaking!!! ‘Snatch and Die’: Tension as Buhari meets Service Chiefs, Govs

There is tension at the FCT, Abuja, as the nation’s Security Chiefs arrive the Villa to meet with the President and Commander-in-Chief, Muhammadu Buhari, who double as the Presidential Candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2019 general elections, Igbere TV reports.

Sources told Igbere TV that apart from the Service Chiefs, the emergency closed door meeting has some state governors in attendance.

State Governors in attendance, Igbere TV learnt, include Jubrilla Bindo (Adamawa), Kashim Shettima (Borno) and Nasir el-Rufai (Kaduna).

Details of the impromptu meeting is still sketchy as at the time of filling this report.

However, this is coming barely 24 hours after the President’s ‘death threat’ to ballot snatchers.

Igbere TV reports that President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday afternoon, said he has ordered security forces to be ruthless against anyone caught snatching ballot boxes after citizens had voted.

“Anybody who decides to snatch boxes or lead thugs to disturb the election, maybe that would be the last unlawful action you would take. I have given the military and police the order to be ruthless.

“I am going to warn anybody who thinks he would lead a body of thugs in his locality to snatch boxes or to disturb the voting system; he would do it at the expense of his/her own life,” the president said at a gathering of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abuja.

The President’s order comes as Nigerians prepare to vote at the rescheduled general elections starting on Saturday, February 23.

The order has ignited nationwide uproar, with critics accusing him of heating up the polity at a time both local and international groups are suing for tranquillity.
