A video showing men of the Nigerian Customs shooting and killing an unarmed citizen, has gone viral on social media, Igbere TV reports.
Igbere TV gathered that the officer, alongside his team, had acousted the road user along the ever-busy Lagos-Ibadan expressway.
He was asked to pay the sum of N5,000 as custom charges for his vehicle, which he refused, as he complained that it was way too much.
The victim was said to be returning fron abroad and traveling down to the eastern part of Nigeria, when the incident took place.
Eyewitnesses alleged that the argument got heated up and the Customs officer shot and killed the yet-to-be-identified man after he was dared to do so by other by-standers.
A social media user who first shared the clip on Sunday afternoon, wrote;
“This is happening now in Lagos Express way. A Nigerian man was stopped by Nigerian Custom on his way to the East. Was charged to pay Almost N5,000 for a custom charge for his car which he refused and complain is too much.
“After many arguments and out of annoyance the Custom officer mistakenly shoot this man on cold blood when he wanted to load a bullet.
“This is terrible. What is Nigeria turning into.”
