‪BREAKING!!! 2019: Tension as Nigeria's ex-Heads of State Meet in Abuja

There is apprehension over the fate of INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, following the recent postponement of the 2019 general elections, Igebre TV reports.

Indications emerged yesterday that the INEC’s Chair job may be on the line, as forces have mounted pressure on the Presidency to drop him and find a replacement before next Saturday’s rescheduled elections. This was as the Coalition of United Political Parties, CUPP, yesterday raised the alarm that INEC chairman will be sacked and replaced with Amina Zakari before Saturday’s polls.

Igbere TV has learnt that following the tension, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is currently meeting with Nigeria’s former Heads of State, a move that may be too save Yakubu’s seat as INEC boss.

This is coming barely 24hours after the commission announced a sudden postponement of the February 16 Presidential/National Assembly and March 2 Governorship/States House of Assembly polls.

Sources told Igbere TV that the meeting was called at the instance of the INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, to address concerns regarding the development.

Igbere TV reports that the commission had on Saturday, met with stakeholders at the National Collation Centre, Abuja over the development.
