The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has said that he received a phone call from the United States Government on Friday ahead of Saturday’s presidential election, Igberetvnews reports.
According to Atiku, who disclosed this through his verified Twitter handle, the US secretary of state, Michael R. Pompeo made the call on behalf of the US Government to reaffirm the international community’s commitment to free and fair elections in Nigeria.
He tweeted:
“Earlier today I received a call from US Secretary of State, @SecPompeo , who reaffirmed the international community’s commitment to free and fair elections in Nigeria.
Wishing you all a peaceful elections, wherever you are. God bless Nigeria.”
