Issa Moussa of Zinder and Zakiri Umar of Maradi, both governors from neighbouring Niger attended the rally held on January 31, which sparked widespread criticism.

In a suit, the opposition party asked a federal high court in Abuja to determine whether the presence of governors of the neighbouring countries is not a violation of Nigerian laws.

Joined in the suit are the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Nigeria Immigration Service, Abdulrahman Dambazau, minister for interior; and the APC.
