The Governorship candidate of All Progressive Congress, APC, in Abia State, Dr. Samson Uche Ogah has accused the Vice chancellor of ABSU, Prof. Uche Ikonne of conniving with Governor Okezie Ikpeazu to rig the 2019 elections in the state.
Ogah in a statement sent to Igbere TV through his Secretary to the Media Committee, Demian Igbokwe, urged the students to resist such act by staying back in the school in order to vote.
The statement reads in part,
“It has come to our knowledge that the Vice Chancellor of Abia State University Prof. Uche Ikonne, has issued a notice of midterm/vacation to the school, thereby forcing the students to go on a compulsory break.”
“We do not only see this as a tact to rig the general election, as the ABSU polling Unit has a huge number of voters registration, we also see it as a deliberate attempt to defranchise/deny our youths the opportunity of making their input in the coming election.”
“Why would ABSU that pulled out of the ASUU strike when it was on going, now turn around to shut down the same school?”
“We hereby plead with the students, to resist this unlawful act and deliberate partisanship of the VC by staying back to cast their votes!”
“We will ensure that the relevant authorities are intimated about this ugly development.”
