2019: Kalu Storms Ibinaukwu Amidst Cheers, Bags Chieftaincy Title

The people of Ibinaukwu Autonomous Community of Igbere, Abia State, have joined the list of communities that have endorsed Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu for Abia North Senatorial election, Igbere TV reports.

This was as his campaign trail on Sunday, stormed the community amidst cheers from thousands of supporters and party faithfuls who had trooped out en masse to have a glimpse of the face of the man who gave Abia State a new look between 1999-2007 he held sway as governor.

Igbere TV reports that the business tycoon and former governor of Abia State, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu, is the candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the February 16 senatorial election in Abia North district.

The people of Ibinaukwu community expressed confidence that Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu will be elected as Senator, while citing his outstanding achievements and leadership as governor for their stance.

They lamented that their community has been neglected since the former governor left office in 2007, and promised to vote massively for his election on February 16.

Earlier, the Abia North Senator hopeful was in the palace of the paramount ruler of Ibinaukwu where he was conferred with a chieftaincy title, “Akuaku” 1 of Ibinaukwu by the traditional council.

They reaffirmed their support for the highly esteemed Senatorial Candidate, whom they described as a “statesman who has been tested, trusted and has delivered.”

Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu, while addressing the crowd at Ibinaukwu kingdom, assured them of his continued support at all time.

“I thank you all for your love and for always believing in me. Above all, I appreciate you for reaffirming your support and I assure you that I will not disappoint when I get to Senate.

“We’ll continue from where we stopped (as governor). We’ll attract meaningful developments to, not only this council, district; but to Abia state at large.

“We’ll continue to push for programmes that would affect the common man, and will only sponsor positive bills and developmental motions,” he said.

Among those who accompanied Dr. Kalu to Ibinaukwu community included the Director General, OUK Campaign Organization, DIG Azubuko Udah (Rtd.), Chairman of APC in Bende local government, Chief Josco Joe, Director General of OUK Foundation and former Chief of Staff Abia State, Rev. Jumaimah Ola Kalu, amongst others.
