Ohanaeze Ndigbo on Monday charged Igbo people to come out and vote en mass for their preferred candidate.
The group Spokesperson of the organisation, Chuks Ibegbu made the call in a statement made available to IGBERE TV on Monday
Ibegbu also advised both the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, and the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, “not to dissuade Ndigbo from voting because they are Nigerians and will continue to render their obligations to the country until anything happen to the contrary and with due process.”
He also warned against deployment or use of force against members of the IPOB and MASSOB by Nigerian security forces, stressing that the pro-Biafra groups are non-violent.
On the position of body regarding the presidential election, Ibegbu stated that the “Ohanaeze’s position was clear on the issue and is never in doubt.”
He warned against “any form of rigging or foreign infiltration and compromise of the election as such will spell doom for the country.”
On the purported crisis engulfing the Ohanaeze leadership, Ibegbu said the body’s leadership was very much intact, adding that the differences during elections are normal.
While warning people against making mountain out of a mole hill, he also cautioned against “pejorative utterances from any quarter”.
The Ohanaeze spokesman threatened to “invoke Igbo gods against anybody working against Igbo interest.”
