Mass defection yesterday rocked Umuhu-Ezechi community as many of People’s Democratic Party members dumped the party to join the All Progressives Congress.

Igbere TV gathered that the paramount ruler of Umuhu-Ezechi, HRH The Ezechiebulu of Umuhu Ezechi also endorsed the House of Representatives candidate of All Progressive Congress, APC for Bende Federal Constituency

Igbere TV reports that the endorsement was given during the symbolic Ima Nzu ceremony performed on Barrister Benjamin Kalu by the traditional ruler.

However, in their speeches, the new APC members who were received by Benjamin Kalu and other top party members of the APC, decried the gross underperformance of PDP in Abia State, citing it as the reason for their defection. They also declared the complete and unwavering support for Benjamin Kalu having been convinced of his credibility and sincerity of purpose to develop Bende.

They declared that they no longer had any desire to remain with a party that thrived on the suffering of the people of Abia; a government that thrived on misappropriating the commonwealth of Abians and a government notorious for owing its workers several months of salaries.

The defectors were warmly welcomed by Benjamin Kalu and handed the symbolic brooms of APC.
