In a statement signed by his media aide, Mr. Kunle Oyewum, and obtained by Igbere TV on Thursday, he alleged that the first attack on the former governor happened in Abam and now in Ihechiowa both in Arochukwu local government area of Abia state.

The statement reads: “The life of the former governor of Abia state, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu have come under attack twice, first in Abam and now in Ihechiowa both in Arochukwu LGA of Abia state.

“It will be recalled that on Tuesday, 15th January, 2019, attempt to attack His Excellency, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu with gun by some boys at Abam during his campaign was averted by security men attached to him.

“This time around, at Amafia in Ihechiowa, the former governor, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu was addressing the joyful crowd that welcomed him with songs and dance. While he was giving his speech, a middle-aged man came to the campaign ground half dressed as a police officer. When he was called aside by one of the security men attached to OUK to verify his identity, to know if truly he’s a police officer, the thugs that came with him started creating scene and tried to disarm the police officer. Unknown to him (the officer), they (the thugs) were fully armed and when he discovered, he quickly raised alarm.

“The thugs who wore T-shits with inscription ‘Abia Vision Rangers’ started throwing stones and shooting at the convoy of Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu, while the convoy quickly moved to the next ward to continue his (OUK) campaign.”
