Former governor of Abia State and Abia North APC senatorial candidate, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu, on Friday said the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) will win massively in the five South-East states including Abia.
Dr. Kalu made this declaration in Umuahia at the flag off campaign of the party’s governorship candidate in the state, Dr. Sampson Uche Ogah.
He accused the incumbent governor, Okezie Ikpeazu of failing the people of the state, and called on the masses to vote out PDP and enthrone a committed government.
He said, “When I was governor, salaries were paid on the 20th of every month. Dignitaries usually come to Abia, but today, (Abia) is a close shop. There was free education. I built this (Umuahia) stadium. Today our university is dead. T. A. Orji wasted eight years and left Abia this way. We will make a change.
“We are going to return Enyimba football club as Africa’s football champion. During my tenure, I created two things, Uche Ogah will create the third one. First was the Enyimba football club in Aba, then Abia Warriors in Umuahia.
“So, I am assuring our party Chairman (Oshiomhole) that come February 16 and March 2, the people of Abia will vote massively for the APC. We will elect President Buhari with 70 per cent votes. We will elect Uche Ogah, he is a businessman like me. We will pay salaries and pensions. No new roads in Aba and Umuahia 12years after I left. Today no road leads to Abia because of people like Ikpeazu.”
Speaking further, Dr. Kalu urged the people of Abia to vote massively for President Buhari in the forthcoming election, saying, “If you support him (Buhari) and the APC, you will be amazed at what he will do for the South-East states.”
“Buhari is busy tarring roads in Igbo nation. The largest investment being done by the APC administration is in the South-East, the 2nd Niger bridge.
“He (Buhari) is now building Enugu-Port-Harcourt expressway, he’s building Enugu-Awka-Onitsha expressway. He’s building Umuahia-Bende-Ohafia-Arochukwu expressway. Some people went there and erect a deceitful signboard to deceive the masses into believing it’s their personal projects. But I want you to know that it’s President Muhammadu Buhari that’s building it. For this single reason alone, we must re-elect Buhari again,” Dr. Kalu added.
