The wife of a local government chairmanship candidate in Ogun State, Kudirat Balogun, has been kidnapped.
The victim’s husband, Gafar Balogun, is eyeing the chairmanship seat of Ewekoro Local Government Area of Ogun State.
A witness said the kidnappers arrived the family home of the Baloguns in Abeokuta on Sunday at about 8.00 p.m. before seizing the woman at gun point.
Mrs. Balogun’s teenage son, Kehinde, who witnessed the operation, told Naijaloaded that the four kidnappers came into their home and asked for their father who was not at home.
He said they took him and the mother into a waiting Toyota matrix car before he was let go and his mum taken away.
“Your father is a sure person, your mummy will return soon,” the 13-year-old quoted one of the kidnappers as saying.
Kehinde later shouted to attract neighbours after the kidnappers left the scene.
Mr. Balogun, the candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress in the October 8 local government elections, said he has reported the kidnap to the police.
He said the kidnappers were yet to contact the family as at the time of this report.
The Ogun police spokesperson, Abimbola Oyeyemi, who confirmed the abduction, said efforts were on to rescue the victim.
