Youths under the aegis of “Abia Youth Forum” have lambasted Abia elders over a recent report written in Vanguard newspaper on 2nd December, with the caption Kalu can’t deliver Abia North for APC, Abia Elders say.
The youths described the newspaper report as a mere propaganda orchestrated by some failed politicians in Abia State.
According to the forum, it is shameful that the faceless group could make derogatory statements against a frontline Igbo businessman, politician and philanthropist, who has continually contributed to nation building in different capacities.
While advising the mercenaries of politicians to desist from slander and propaganda, the group urged the faceless “leaders” to account for the state resources which are being shared among them on a monthly basis.
Reacting to the false report, spokesman of the youth forum, Kelechi Nwabueze, in a statement issued in Arochukwu on Monday, the group advised politicians to be cautious of their utterances, adding that the people of Abia North, will resist any attempt to tarnish Kalu’s name by people who they described as jobless and hungry political jobbers and saboteurs.
He said, “we read with disgust a statement credited to ‘Concerned Abia Leaders’ stating that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will lose election in Abia North, because of Kalu’s candidature, in an attempt to rubbish the name of the former Governor of Abia state.
“As we all know, the 2019 general election is fast approaching and there will be all sorts of fake stories all over the place.
“The self-proclaimed group ” Concerned Abia Leaders” has shown the world that they are mere frustrated and jobless individuals, who act the script of their paymasters for survival and other reasons best known to them.
“Kalu is human and as such undergoing surgery is not new. It is sad that the faceless group could play politics with someone’s health.
Even if Kalu is in a sick bed, he is much better than the so-called leaders, who have nothing to offer Abians except hardship and pain.
“The court is the appropriate authority to decide the fate of the former governor and as such, the so-called leaders should allow the judiciary take its decision and not pre-empt the court of law.
“The people of Abia North will continue to appreciate the humanitarian gestures of Kalu, which know no bounds.
“During Kalu’s stint as governor, he granted free education, free health services while ensuring salaries and pensions were paid at the appropriate time, precisely on or before 25th of every month.
“I challenge the so-called elders to outline their contributions to Abia State either as individuals or a group.
“The people of Abia State are now wise and will not succumb to political manipulation ahead of the forthcoming general elections.
“Kalu remains our only choice for the red chamber in 2019 and no amount of falsehood will make us lose focus in our resolve to ensure victory for the APC candidate in the poll”
The group, while lambasting the so-called Abia leaders, urged them to be responsible and cautious, noting that their sponsors will soon desert them.
