UNLUCKY ESCAPE!! Drug Baron Drowns in River Niger while Trying To Escape

A suspected drug dealer recently met his end after he drowned while trying to evade capture by the authorities.

Two suspected drug dealers drowned in River Niger, Lokoja, the Kogi State capital, on Monday, in their bid to evade arrest by the men of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency.

Some members of the Adankolo community in Lokoja allegedly informed the NDLEA about the activities of drug users and dealers in the area. When NDLEA operatives visited the area, it was reliably gathered the suspects started running upon seeing them.

Our correspondent found out that two of the suspects ran into the river and got entangled in nets set by fishermen which led to the drowning. Meanwhile, four others were arrested including one suspected to be a dealer while three were suspected drug users.

A member of the community, who spoke with our correspondent on condition of anonymity said that after discovering the floating bodies of the two men who drowned, some hoodlums headed to the local police station and vandalised it thinking that the operation was carried out by the police.

He said that residents of the community were now living in fear of attacks from the hoodlums who have promised to revenge the death of their colleagues.

The Commandant of the NDLEA in the state, Idris Bello, who confirmed the deaths and arrests said that the arrested dealer was being profiled with a view to getting more facts from him. He said that the suspect would be charged to court as soon as investigation is concluded.
