Charms Failed As Armed Robbers Engage SARs In ShootOut, Many Gunned Down (GRAPHICS)
Report reaching IGBERE TV has it that the Detectives attached to the Special Anti- Robbery Squad (SARS), Taraba State Police Command, have Gunned down suspected armed robber and injured others.
This occurred about 9:30a.m., yesterday after the police received information that the robbers were operating on Kwassa feeder road in Bali Local Government Area.
According to the state Commissioner of Police, David Akinremi, a team of policemen was immediately dispatched to the scene.
On approaching the scene, the team engaged the hoodlums in a gun battle and in the process, gunned down one while two others sustained gunshot injuries. The wounded later died on the way to the hospital.
Other members of the gang, however, escaped into the nearby bush. Items recovered from the hoodlums include one locally-made pistol with one live cartridge, one Dane gun, a face mask, a knife and some charms.
The police said intensive search was on going to apprehend others who escaped with gunshot injuries.
