Tony Anenih a former chairman of the PDP board of trustees and an ex-minister is dead, IGBERE TV can now report.
The Iyasele of Esanland, popularly regarded as “Mr Fix it,” in political circles in reference to his ability to initiate successful strategic political moves, succumbed to his illness at the Cedar Crest Hospital, Abuja on Sunday.
The Edo state government in reaction to the demise released a statement which were obtained by IGBERE TV, condole with the Anenih family over the death of the veteran politician.
Godwin Obaseki, Edo governor, said Anenih made immense contributions to the development of the state and the country, adding that his guidance will be missed as the 2019 election approaches.
Anenih resigned from active politics in 2016, saying “I am persuaded that I have no more ambition nor any point to prove in politics,” adding that he “shall, however, continue to avail the country of my experience, give suggestions and offer advice, as a statesman”.
He asked that Nigerians “support and pray that God will give President Muhammadu Buhari the wisdom and vision to steer this country away from recession to prosperity”.
In 2017, Anenih was bereaved twice. He lost one of his sons and his second wife who died aged 74 after a protracted illness.
