…… Our Govt Will Take Care Of Everybody – Deputy Governor.
By Emmanuel Adeniran, Ado Ekiti.
As part of the Inauguration Programmes designed to herald the new Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi for a second term in Office into the State, a Special Thanksgiving and Inter-Faith Combined Service has been held at the Ekiti State Government House on Thursday. The Inauguration Committee headed by the Wife of the Governor, Erelu Bisi Fayemi as Chairman was instrumental to the decision to hold the Thanksgiving / Inter-Faith Combined Service to enable the new Governor and the entire Government Cabinet in waiting to seek the face of God in the Four Years Mandate given to them by the people of the State through the July 14th Governorship Election in the State.
An Islamic Cleric, Alhaji Raheem Arikewuyo Olowoyo advised the Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, to learn from the downfall of his predecessor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose, in exercising power given to him by the Ekiti electorates. Olowoyo said those who misused the position of power will leave office one day and should always ponder on life after Office.
According to him, people in the position of power must learn from the fact that Fayose, who still wielded power of life and death just a week ago, is now cooling his feet in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). Olowoyo, the Awiye Adinni of Ekitiland who said power is transient urged those holding positions of leadership to do well and be accountable to people because of the impending day of reckoning.
The Clerics spoke during the Inter-faith Thanksgiving Service held at the Government House in Ado-Ekiti as part of the activities to mark the coming to power of the Fayemi administration. The Service was attended by the Deputy Governor, Otunba Bisi Egbeyemi; Wife of the Governor, Erelu Bisi Fayemi; Wife of the Deputy Governor, Mrs. Margaret Egbeyemi; the Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adeniran Alagbada; Ekiti State Traditional Rulers, Religious Leaders and Senior Civil Servants. The Awiye Adinni spoke while leading Muslim Prayer for the success of the new Fayemi Administration.
The Anglican Bishop of Ekiti Diocese, Rt. Revrend Christopher Omotunde, prayed that God will not allow Ahithophels to get into Government and mislead the Governor.
Olowoyo said: “by this time last week, it was whoever Fayose wanted that will be allowed to enter this Government House and whoever he did not want will not be allowed in. Where is Fayose today? Fayose is now a former Governor, the Governor that is there today will be a former Governor tomorrow. Three days have gone out of four years and that is how the four years will be reducing gradually. People are talking about good things and bad things Fayose did in power”.
“Fayemi is a good man and God has given him a wonderful Woman as Wife and they don’t underrate people. My prayer is that God will not allow evil people to be part of this Government.”
Delivering the Muslim sermon, the State Missioner of Ansar-ud-Deen Society, Alhaji Baba Abdul Salam, described position of power as “trial from God. Abdul Salam urged leaders in the Country to rule with Justice and fair play adding that Fayemi has begun well and must be supported with prayers to succeed”.
He said: “This is a good beginning, Fayemi is exposed, he has interacted with Presidents and World leaders and he has come to do well in this second term.”
Delivering the Christian sermon, Ekiti Provincial Pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Goke Kuti, assured that the State will take its pride of place in Nigeria under Fayemi. Speaking on the topic: “Possess Your Possession, Pastor Kuti said God the Fayemi administration should not see any impossibility but must go forth and do exploits for the people”.
But said: “In this administration, we should not see impossibility, it is time for God to make Ekiti great. We can overcome poverty, unemployment and other problems confronting this State”.
Also, speaking on behalf of the Governor who was attending the Governors’ Forum meeting in Abuja for the first after his Inauguration as a Second Term Governor; Chief Bisi Egbeyemi assured that the New Government will not discriminate in making people feel the impact of Governance.
Egbeyemi said: “Whether you are a member of APC, PDP or any other party, if your children are in public Schools, they will enjoy free Education because this Government is a friend to everybody. We will do more than what we did during the first tenure. I moved round with the Governor during the campaign and there are projects to show in all towns and villages. We have said we are not probing anybody but we want to look into the books because workers want us to pay them, pensioners want us to pay them and we are going to work out how we will pay them. An emaciated child cannot be fed to become robust in one day; we will be doing it gradually. We want our spiritual fathers to keep on praying for us to succeed in this task”9.
The Clerics invited to anchor and Minister at the Thanksgiving / Inter – Faith Combined Service used the opportunity to advise Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State to move closer to God, seek His Face and be very prayeful so that he could be successful in his administration.
The Inter – Faith Combined Service was however, witnessed by several Men and Women of God from both Faith’s, the Pastors and Bishops from the CAN were present and the Imams and priests from the Islamic faith were also present.
Also present were the First Lady, Erelu Bisi Fayemi, the deputy Governor, Otunba Bisi Egbeyemi and his wife Chief Mrs Margret Egbeyemi, the newly appointed Secretary to the State Government, Mr Abiofun Oyevanji, Chief of Staff, Mr Biodun Omoleye and Chief Press Secretary, Mr Yinka Oyebode among several other party leaders of the APC and members of the general public.
The first Muslim preacher, Alhaji Baba Abdul Salam, who is the State Missioner, Ansar-ud-Deen in his preaching said, “Dr Kayode Fayemi in his first term after the defeat conceded defeat, because he wanted peace and did not want the blood or the innocent people be wasted and he did not want the works he did in his first term to be destroyed. He did not however know he was preparing that for his second coming. Even when big party wigs were saying they should go to court”.
Alhaji Raheem Arikewuyo Arowoyo, the Awiye Adinni of Ekitiland who also Ministered advised the Governor not to be like the former Governor who made himself a Semi-God, because whatever position and wherever we are in life we should know it is not permanent”.
The Pastor in charge of RCCG Province 2, Pastor Goke Kuti also advised the Governor, telling the first Lady to deliver his message to the Governor, “to always at least once in a month organize a monthly prayer for the State. Even though several other churches in the State will be praying for the Government but the Governor should also create time for a gathering like this where we will all pray to God about out State”, he said.
