Dr. Kayode Fayemi has been officially sweared-in as a Second Term Governor for the Fountain of Knowledge and the Land of Honour of Ekiti State on Tuesday with a promised to leave Ekiti State better than he met it. The swearing-in took place at the Ekiti State Pavilion, Iyin Ekiti road where the New Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi and his Deputy, Chief Bisi egbeyemi were sworn in.
The Chief Judge of Ekiti State, Justice Ayo Daramola administered the Oath of Allegiance and Office to the Governor and his Deputy with emphasis on his commitment and dedication towards better delivery of good governance.
President Muhammadu Buhari who was represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr. Boss Mustapha expressed his readiness to give the New Administration all the necessary supports to achieve Good Governance. The President described the New Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi as a committed person who is equal to the task to lift up the Economy of the State once again from the doldrums. President Muhammadu Buhari equally used the opportunity to congratulates the people of Ekiti for giving the Governor another chance.
Speaking further at the Inauguration Ceremony, the President said: “the inauguration is significant because Ekiti has made a right choice with the return of APC/Fayemi administration. Ekiti has returned to civility and decency. When Fayemi served as a Minister at the Federal Ministry of Solid Mines and Steel, he delivered promptly. Buhari said Fayemi during his first term in Office in Ekiti between 2010-2014 embarked on laudable developmental projects, social security scheme/investment programmes which he has again assured the Ekiti Elderlies to start benefitting again”.
“Mr. President therefore implored the New Governor not to relent in serving the people with improved committment. The President called the people of Ekiti to work towards the success of the All Progressive Congress ahead of the 2019 General Elections in the Country. He promised that the return of the All Progressive Congress at the Federal Level will further herald new dividends of Democracy for the people of the State”.
The New Governor, Dr. Kayode fayemi in his acceptance speech expressed appreciation to the people of Ekiti State whom he said are instrumental to his electoral victory and therefore promises to take full ownership of the challenges on ground and the ones ahead.
He said: “I will not rest until workers salaries are cleared. He used the opportunity to call on the various business owners who have left the State to come back and continue their businesses.
Fayemi reiterates his commitment to ethical Governance characterised with disciplines, he affirms he’s not interested in trial, but rather seek out the truth and lay it. I am not on a revenge mission as some people have saying but have come as a healing balm to the State to heal the wounds incurred on the State by the Inglorious administration leaving the State”.
“On the alleged N170 billion debt profile of the immediate past administration, Fayemi promised to review the documents and disseminate the present State of affairs to the people of the State in no distant time. He reiterated his commitment to conquer grievous mistakes that cause setback on Ekiti Development. Never again should we toil with our Education, Health, Infrastructure, Tourism sector, Security and Accountability, no draconian or a one man show”.
Fayemi equally promised to revive the social security scheme for the elderly in Ekiti and vowed to make the State a place where people can live with dignity by focussing on the four areas of Agriculture, Rural Development, Social Investment Scheme and Infrastructural/Entrenching Development.
Among the dignitaries who attended the ceremony is the All Progressive Congress (APC) National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, APC National Executives, Governors in the Southwest, other APC Governors from other Zones like that of Kaduna and Kebbi, the Ooni of Ile – Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi and some Monarchs within and outside the State.
