Igbere Welfare Union has warned Abia State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) not to cause problems and unnecessary political tension in Bende Federal Constituency by plotting to withdraw Dr. Chima Anyaso’s ticket.
The union revealed that Nnenna Ukeje cannot impose herself on Bende Federal Constituency because the people want a change.
Speaking with our correspondent, the Secretary General, IGBERE Welfare Union, Barr. Israel Uwakwe revealed that once a person emerged as a candidate of a political party, nobody can remove or succeed the person.

He further said that it is unconstitutional for Ukeje to remove Anyaso through court order as he cited the electoral act.
In his words,
“This is a constitutional issue and once a political party has organized its primary and a person emerged as a flag bearer of a party you cannot remove the person, it’s unconstitutional even the electoral act has clearly specified that once a person has contested a primary and won the primary, you cannot remove or succeed the person”.
“If you want to succeed the person, why did you allow the person to buy the form? Why did the party committee screen the person but didn’t disqualify him?
“So once someone has purchased the party form, went for the screening and other rigorous processes and won the party primary election, you can’t succeed or remove the person.”
“The people who voted for him won’t be happy seeing their candidate removed because they love the person. It’s also undemocratic to remove someone who the people have clearly voted for. So for me, I see the plot to remove Anyaso as a merely rumour which cannot happen”.

“My message for Nnenna Ukeje is that since she was part of the primary election but the people opted for Anyaso and voted for him, it clearly shows that the masses want a change in Bende Federal Constituency”.
“She should allow the votes of the masses to be counted since they don’t want her again. She can’t impose her personality on the people,” he said.
He also noted that what Ukeje is trying to do is one of the series of problems that Nigerians are experiencing in the political terrain and warned Ukeje to desist from such act which will cause problems in the political system of Bende Federal Constituency.
Finally, he urged Ukeje to accept defeat and re-contest some other time if she wants to go back at the National Assembly.
Igbere TV had reported of moves by Nnenna Ukeje, through her mother, Justice Rose Ukeje, a former Chief Judge in Federal High Court, to illegally snatch Chima Anyaso’s ticket using the 35% affirmative action for women.
Igbere TV also reported of the heavy tension in Bende federal constituency over the alleged plot by Abia state People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to withdraw Dr. Chima Anyaso’s ticket.
An insider revealed to Igbere TV that Abia state PDP are under pressure to return the party’s ticket, (through the back door) to reps members who lost at the Primaries.
