JUST IN: The Pains’ll Soon Be Over, Buhari Assures Nigerians

President Muhammadu Buhari, yesterday, assured Nigerians that they would soon begin to feel the real impact of his policies in their lives just as South west governors put forward suggestions on how perceptions of marginalisation could be redressed.

President Buhari spoke at the South West conference of the All Progressives Congress, APC, at Ibadan, where the APC national chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun charged party members to enlighten the public that effecting change in the polity would take time.
Oyegun noted that 16 years of PDP rot cannot be reversed in 15 months. President Buhari was represented by his political adviser, Senator Femi Ojudu. He said: “You all may well know, the darkest part of the night is the period before dawn. Nigeria’s dawn is about to break. We are determined to turn things around. Change is not easy, but we are not relenting until we achieve a better life for all Nigerians. The change we advocate will be irrevocable when we are finally done. We just have to change from our old ways of doing things because things cannot be allowed to continue the way they were.
Though, things may appear difficult at the moment, it will not be long before Nigerians start deriving the full benefits of the current policies of government which are designed to reposition the country and improve on the prevailing economic situation.”
Speaking further,he said: “Already, there are signs that things are turning round for the better. In the oil and gas industries for instance, many investors are showing tremendous interest in building petroleum refineries. In no distant time, the issues of fuel scarcity will become a thing of the past.”
We need to support Buhari — Ajimobi Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State, the host governor said leaders of the party in the South West were not fair in their complaints of marginalisation by President Buhari, saying they have been too distant from the presidency. Oyegun calls for patience Odigie-Oyegun, on his part, charged party members to bear with the administration on the fact that the government met extensive damage when it came to power.

There’s need for restructuring — Aregbesola Governor Rauf Aregbesola on his part made a fresh call for restructuring, genuine and true federalism and a Nigeria that is all-inclusive. Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State, who was represented by his deputy, Chief Mrs Yetunde Onanuga said many people are tired in this era of change urging them to be strong-hearted.
