FOFA Takes Plan On Young People’s Health To Abia

An action plan tagged “Abia State Integrated Plan on Young People Health and Development AIYHD” has been presented by Forward Africa (FOFA) to the Abia State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, in Umuahia.

FOFA is a non-governmental organisation and with the four-year plan that covers 2016-2019.FOFA Executive Director, Dame Chibuzo Oriuwa, said the plan was initiated, developed and effected by the state Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) in collaboration with FOFA and support from the Ford Foundation of the United States (U.S.) under the guidance and contributions of an inter-agency Technical Working Group (TWG) on Young People’s Health and Development in the state, which consisted of representatives of civil society groups and other relevant stakeholders.

The mission of the action plan, which was borne out of an initial baseline inquiry into the welfare of young people in the state, is to set into motion a strong strategic partnership among government and civil society that can improve the welfare of young people in the state with their effective involvement while the Vision is to put in place a State with healthy, educated and prosperous young people.

Similarly, AIYHD strategic objective and goal is “to facilitate Abia with healthy, educated and prosperous young people driven by the collective vision of all policies, plans and directives enunciated by Nigeria and the state as well as international bodies represented by treaties, conventions and agreements for the development of young people.”
