Operatives of the Imo State Police Command paraded a soldier, one Private Bright Nwaogwugwu, attached to 33 Artillery Brigade, Bauchi, and four men believed to be members of his gang who allegedly terrorise motorists and dispossess them of their valuables along Ohoba/Asah road in Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area.
Addressing journalists while parading the suspects, yesterday, at the command headquarters, Owerri, the Commissioner of Police, CP, Taiwo Lakanu, stated that the soldier was arrested by his men on July 22 while allegedly robbing motorists along the road.
Lakanu revealed that the command arrested over 30 suspects for various crimes in a short time as a result of consolidated efforts to ensure that Imo State is crime free.
According to him, the suspects who were arrested in various locations in the state have been arraigned while some are still under investigation.
Also, the police boss hinted that several items were recovered during the operations and urged the public to continue to assist the command to rid the state of criminal elements
