A Nigerian Youth Corper currently serving in Anambra State has gone
against all odds to serve his fatherland by improving the lives of the
Nigerian students through his Personal Community Development Service (CDS) Project.
Eme Udochukwu Prince, a graduate of History and Diplomatic Studies,
University of Port Harcourt. He started his one year mandatory National Service in November 2017 and has embarked on a programme that will feature all secondary schools within Awka Anambra state, titled “Culture Rescue Mission” an Inter Secondary School Arts Exhibition /Competition commencing on 20th – 21st September, 2018 at Anambra State Secretariat Hall, Jeroma Udoji Secreteriat Complex, Akwa.
This CDS project he said was inspired due to the need to revive the consciousness, knowledge and practice of Nigerian Culture which has relegated to the backyard. It also to empower young school children by resuscitating their creative abilities and their love for Art, so they can tell the world our story and history through Art.
This programme will feature sensitization on the importance of our culture, awareness on drug abuse, reward in academic excellence, medical test, culture exhibition, academic support and
scholarship.
During our interview with him he disclosed that it hasn’t been easy surviving with the #19,800 allowance as a corp member not to talk of organizing this fund intensive project but he said he’s optimistic that with distinguished personalities, stakeholders and well meaning Nigerian that the project will be a big success.
In his words,
“This project can be successful, if only you join in supporting by Cash or kind (Exercise Books, Computer Set, Scholarships, Academic Materials etc)
He added that he will be commissioning a Door Notification Post he constructed for his PPA, Ministry of Diaspora Affairs, Culture and Tourism Anambra State on the 21st September, 2018.
He also use the opportunity to thank his boss Hon. Commissioner Ministry of Diaspora Affairs, Culture and Tourism,
Chief (Dr.) Mrs Sally Mbanefo, Permanent Secretary Mr. Tony Ezenwaka, Hon. Commissioner, Ministry of Basic Education, Permanent Secretary Office of SSG, Dr. Emman Ude AKPEH and Anambra State Coordinator NYSC for their support and approval of the program.
