Chima Anyaso Reacts To Demolition Of Campaign Billboards, Call For End To 'Political Rascality'

Leading aspirant for Bende Federal Constituency House of Representatives seat and favorite to fly the flag of the PDP in the next election, Dr. Chima Desmond Anyaso, has reacted to the recent demolition of his campaign billboards across several towns in Bende by yet to be identified miscreants suspected to be working for an opposition politician in Bende.

In a statement made available to the press, the frontline politician and astute business man assured that the malicious destruction of his campaign billboards will not deter him, however he feels disappointed that his opponents and those working for them will descend so low to attack ordinary campaign materials instead of addressing critical issues of development which is the main purpose of running for office. In a rather determined voice, he called for caution while saying that such acts of sabotage must be discontinued to allow for a campaign that is based on ideas, beyond mere political rascality.

In his words,

“We have observed with dismay the wanton destruction of billboards belonging to my campaign and that of the Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu. I hope the people committing this act are aware that this contest is not between them and the billboards but between them and us, a contest based on legacy and character, a contest based on truth and ideology. I am confident that with or without the billboards the people of Bende will vote me any day, but this act of sabotage should stop in the interest of peace”

“We have said to them consistently that every time they go low, we will go high, if they go lower, we will equally go higher. In terms of achievements, they have nothing to show which is why they resort to destroying properties. It is an easy way they feel that they can distract us and the people of Bende from asking them to show proof of their competence. They have nothing to give but violence and destruction and for this reason, my campaign is saying to our people, don’t vote for miscreants who are only interested in power and not the good of Bende”

“Our major concern is to support the vibrant Governor of Abia State, Dr. Okezie Victor Ipkeazu to ensure that all his laudable programs are delivered to Bende people. You know the good works the governor is doing in Abia especially in road construction, agriculture, education plus feeding of school children and revamp of healthcare system making it possible so that patients can speak to a doctor with a scratch card. You can also see the promotion of made in Aba goods and training of Abia youths in China on Shoe-making and the steady power supply in Ariaria, amongst other giant strides. These are the legacies we want to sustain and build on for the benefit of Bende”.

The statement further noted that for the opposition to resort to vandalism and acts of brigandage shows that the opposition are feeling threatened by the popularity and acceptance of Dr. Chima Anyaso and are deeply afraid because they will lose the election come 2019, therefore they have sort compensation in act of mundane violence. It calls on the security agencies and local vigilantes to be on the watch out and apprehend the perpetrators before they progress to more aggressive acts of sabotage as it is the trademark of losers, especially the opposition.
