Four women have been kidnapped along the the Ubima-Omurelu axis of Owerri-Port Harcourt express road in Ikwerre Local government area of Rivers State.
This is happening as the police just rescued two kidnapped victims identified as Chidi Nwoke and Sunday Ikechi who were abducted at different locations in Rivers state.
A Senior Police officer attached to the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of thd Rivers State Police Command who confirmed the development, said Nwoke was kidnapped around Oyigbo but was rescued in a forest within Ikwerre-Ngwa by a combined security team.
He added that Sunday Ikechi, who was abducted on the 7th of August, along Omurele axis of Port Harcourt-Owerri road was rescued at Igbo-Etche forest by men of the Anti-Kidnap Unit
However, in the latest abduction, the officer said the driver of the bus conveying the four kidnapped victims has been arrested and was under investigation at the Anti-Kidnapping Unit following his role in the kidnap incident.
Similarly, a 23-year old girl has been kidnapped by unknown gunmen operating around Etche Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The kidnapped victim is said to have fallen to a trick of fake job employment at the Local government council by her abductors.
A senior officer attached to the IGP Monitoring Unit in the State, who confirmed the development said the kidnappers had promised the girl employment opportunity at the Etche Local government council and abducted her when she finally showed up for the job.
However, the whereabouts of the kidnapped victims is still unknown and no contact has been established with the kidnappers.
Spokesman of the Rivers Police Command, DSP Nnamdi Omoni when contacted said, “the Command has not been briefed on the latest incidents”.
