A 25-year old robber, Mr. Idris Aliu did the unthinkable after he sneaked into a police station, beat all the security apparatus, stole an unregistered motorcycle at the station and escaped.
The incident happened at Olosun Police Division in Mushin, Lagos where the Bajaj motorcycle seized by the police was parked as exhibit.
People were still surprised how Aliu managed to beat the security on duty to steal the bike and escape from the station. It was gathered that the suspect had monitored the security situation at the station and saw that it was porous; he then stole the bike and escape with it.
However, he was unlucky as he used the bike to work during late hours banned for riding Okada in the state. The police then apprehended him at Alhaji Amusa Street area of Mushin by the traffic light for contravening traffic laws. He was arrested with the bike and taken to the police station for the alleged offence. It was then that the police realised that he stole the bike from the station. He was detained and later charged before Ogba Magistrates court for stealing.
He pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor did not oppose his being granted bail.
Thus, the Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. A.O. Layinka granted him bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
He was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail condition.
The matter was adjourned till 6th of August, 2018.
P.M.Express gathered that it was not only at Olusun police station that suspected criminals had invaded and stolen motorcycles. Recently, a suspect sneaked into Ejigbo Police Division, stole a motorcycle and escaped. The suspect is facing trial before Ejigbo Magistrates court. This showed that even the police stations were not safe in terms of protection of lives and properties.
