Unrepentant Fake Soldier Arrested By Security Operatives In Ogun. Photo

A man who has been parading himself as a soldier in Otta area of Ogun State, has been arrested by police officers.  The suspect, 32-year old Abdul-Azeez Haruna, was arrested on Tuesday, June 26, 2018, at Ifesowapo Community of Ijako in Sango Otta area of the state.

The last straw that broke the camel’s back was that, the suspect who, according to the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, had been terrorizing residents of Ijako with military camouflage, was seen in a show of force, at about 2:00 pm, removing a television set from the house of a resident.

Oyeyemi, in a press statement made available to Crimepuzzle said, “His action aroused the suspicion of members of the community who accosted him, held him hostage and thereafter, sent a distress call to the police at Sango-Otta Division.

“The DPO of the Station, CSP Nasirudeen Oyedele, led his men to the scene and promptly arrested the suspect, who still insisted that he was an Army personnel, but had to debunk that claim, on sighting soldier guarding the Otta Unit of the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC)”, the PPRO said.

The soldiers were invited by the police to identify him as truly one of them

Meanwhile, the state Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Iliyasu, has ordered the suspect to be transfered to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID), Abeokuta, for further investigation and prosecution.
