A fast-rising Pittsburgh rapper, Jimmy Wopo, was also shot dead on Monday, just hours after Florida rapper XXXTentacion, 20, was confirmed dead after being shot in Florida.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Wopo who was only 21 was traveling with another male in a white Mazda SUV when they were shot about 4:22 p.m. in the Middle Hill neighborhood.
Pittsburgh Police confirmed that the second victim is in stable condition.
The Elm Street rapper’s manager Taylor Maglin confirmed the death of his client, real name Travon Smart, on Facebook.
‘I lost my brother today and it’s the worst feeling in the world. He was destined for greatness and he wanted the best for his friends, family and community,’ Maglin wrote.
We lost a great person today, but just know I will do everything in my power to make his memory live on forever. Love you bro,’ he added.
In a statement by Alicia George, a Pittsburgh Police spokesperson, she said
‘A police investigation into the drive-by shooting is underway.’
This was an isolated incident, an apparent drive-by,’ George said.
