Nigerian Police React After A Man Was Allegedly Shot By SARS

The Nigerian police force have reacted to the viral video circulating online that SARS operatives shot a man yesterday. The police have denied the report and revealed that the man was an asthmatic patient.

 

A statement made available to our correspondent reads in full :

“Ref video circulating on social media “SARS operatives shoot man wrongly labeled a fraudster in Chinese town Ojota, Lagos.”

PCRRU Investigation has been initiated, Tracking Number is #PCRRU201853.

The man seen lying on the ground is asthmatic and had an asthma attack during contact with a police patrol team from Area Command Ogudu Lagos and not SARS Operatives. He has been revived and in a stable condition, he was not shot at by the police.

Witnesses should please contact the DPO Ogudu Division Lagos as the Commissioner of Police Lagos State Command would like to know if any form of excessive force was used by the officers. The two officers involved have been taken off front-line police duties pending conclusion of investigation.
