President Muhammadu Buhari, on Tuesday, received Nigerian Senators who are currently in a closed-door meeting with him over Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris’ refusal to honour their summons and other allegations levelled against the IGP.
President Buhari is currently meeting with the senators who were led by Dr Bukola Saraki, President of the Senate.
It can be recalled that the upper legislative chamber had previously instituted a nine-member committee whose duty was to investigate allegations by Mr Saraki that IGP Idris plans to build a criminal case against him using cultism suspects in police custody.
The Senate President had informed the Senate that the Police Chief allegedly ordered the police command in Kwara State to transfer some suspects in their custody to Abuja in order to have their submissions to the police altered and consequently implicate him.
The committee is expected to relate the outcome of its findings to the president.
The committee comprises Senate Leader Ahmed Lawan; Chief Whip Olusola Adeyeye; Minority Leader Godswill Akpabio; Danjuma Goje; Sam Anyanwu; Aliyu Wammako; Fatima Raji-Rasaki; and Oluremi Tinubu.
