Ebonyi government goes tyrannical , bans phones, electronic devices at government house

The use of phones, voice recorders and other electronic devices have been banned at the Ebonyi government house, particularly inside the council chambers and the office of David Umahi, governor of the state.

The measure was taken after deliberations of council meetings were said to have been leaked to opposition parties.

The newspaper said when Umahi met the governing council of Ebonyi State University (EBSU) on Monday, no one was allowed into the meeting with their phones.

The council met the governor over issues bothering the university.

Journalists were also not allowed into the meeting with any electronic device.

The directive on the ban was reportedly posted in strategic areas of the government house, with warnings that defaulters would be penalised.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state has been having a running battle with the governor who is of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Last month, APC leaders in the state asked President Muhammadu Buhari to call Umahi to order.
