The people of Abia South Senatorial District have commenced the process of recalling Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, representing the area at the National Assembly.
This followed a resolution said to have been reached by stakeholders from various political parties in the six local government areas in Abia South under the aegis of Coalition of Abia South Senatorial Movement.
Addressing newsmen in Aba, the leader of the movement, Prince Paul Ikonne said the decision to recall Senator Abaribe was based on the alleged failure of the Senator to impact meaningfully on the welfare of the people through quality representation.
Prince Ikonne said the senator was elected to push for governance, make good laws and claimed that the reverse was now the case.
He explained that the stakeholders would follow due process in the recall, noting that the collation of signatures from wards and electoral units would be completed in two weeks.
Also speaking, the state chairman of Advanced Peoples Democratic Party APDA, Chief Nwobodo Nwanganga observed that previous efforts to call the Senator to order had not yielded any positive result.
A member of the PDP from Obingwa local government Chief Chima Enwere Uzo said the move to recall Senator Abaribe was long overdue as he had purportedly derailed from the mandate given to him, noting that there was nothing to show for his twelve years in the Senate.
Effort to reach Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe was not fruitful, but one of his media aide who does want his name mentioned posited that the effort of the group will be fruitless because the good people of Abia South will not fall their gimmicks.
