Suspected political thugs, yesterday, interrupted the speech of the governor of Jigawa State, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar at an occasion to receive decampees from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Birnin-Kudu local government area (LGA) of the state.
Daily Trust newspaper reports that the venue of the event was thrown into confusion shortly after the governor stood on the podium to address the audience.
The governor, who sought to know the cause of the commotion, abandoned his speech after realizing that they were not ready to remain calm.
In his short address before the interruption, the governor appealed to the party members to play the game of politics in accordance to its dictates, saying that “it was not out place to play politics without bitterness.”
Badaru also presented a cheque of N20 million to students of higher institutions of learning from the Birnin-Kudu and six saloon Volkswagen Gulf cars to officials of his party.
