Arch. Adaeze Okafor has emerged as candidate of the Advanced Peoples Democratic Alliance (APDA) for the November 18 Anambra governorship election.
She defeated her rival Mr. Izuegbu Chinedu Chima by 390 – 3 votes.
Adaeze is now the first ever female gubernatorial candidate in Anambra.
The primary was conducted Sunday in Awka, the state capital.
APDA used biometric voting system in the exercise observed by a representative of INEC, Nasiru Mohammed.
The INEC official commended the innovation of the party in employing the system, saying it reduced the usual case of thousands of people crowding in particular place to cast votes.
Adaeze was declared winner by the chairman of the gubernatorial primaries for Anambra, Mallam Yunusa Sarki, FCT Chairman of the APDA.
In her acceptance speech, she promised to bring her wealth of experience to bear in creating a new Anambra where the people will be proud.
The candidate holds B.A in Fine and Applied Arts from the University of Nigeria Nsukka, BSc and MSc Architecture from Enugu State University of Science and Technology, and California Teaching Credential from National University, Los Angeles.
