Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State, has explained why he was part of the the delegation from the Nigerian Governors Forum, NGF, who visited ailing President Muhammadu Buhari in London.
Recall that six governors had last week paid a visit to Buhari in London.
Governors on the trip included, Abdullaziz Yari, of Zamfara State, Dave Umahi, Ebonyi, Kashim Shettima, Borno, Abiola Ajimobi, Oyo, Umar Ganduje, Kano, Samuel Ortom of Benue State and Emmanuel, Akwa Ibom State.
The governors have since returned back to Nigeria.
Explaining the reason for the trip, Emmanuel said the governors went on behalf of “Nigerians to show the President that the entire country loved and wished him well.”
Addressing journalist in Akwa Ibom, the state capital, Emmanuel said with the conclusion of elections in 2015, what leaders owe the people is good governance and not political party interest, adding that the President is the father of the nation.
“On behalf of all Nigerians, we needed to show him that Nigerians care and we love him as a father and that we care for him, we pray for him,” he said.
