BREAKING: Gov. Ugwuanyi fires Information Commissioner, 2 others

​Governor Ifeanyi Ugwunayi of Enugu State on Thursday carried out a major cabinet reshuffle.

The Governor’s action led to the removal of three commissioners, while two new ones came on board.

The three commissioners affected in the exercise include Dr. Godwin Udeuhele (Commissioner for Information), Mr. Charles Ndukwe (Commissioner for Youth and Sports) and Barrister Smart Ogbe (Commissioner for Inter-Governmental Affairs).

The two new commissioners sworn in during the meeting of the State Executive Council include Mr. Ogbuagu Anikwe who now takes charge of Information and Mr. Joseph Udedi who was deployed to the Ministry of Youth and Sport.

The changes came as a first step in the move by Governor Ugwuanyi to reshape his cabinet in order to further enhance effective delivery of good governance to the people of Enugu state.

The new helmsman at the State Ministry of Information, Mr. Ogbuagu Anikwe, a veteran journalist and public communications strategist, joined the State Executive Council from BusinessDay Newspaper where he was serving as chairman of Editorial Board of the outfit.

Anikwe who had over the past decades cut his teeth in the journalism profession was News Editor at The Guardian and later Editor of Daily Times of Nigeria.

The new commissioner had also worked as World Bank consultant for the Federal Inland Revenue and a number of State Governments.

He was also the spokesman for the Federal Government’s Committee on Power Sector Reforms, working with the Presidential Taskforce on Power and the Federal Ministry of Power.

Hence, he has brought a huge depth of wealth of experience to bear on his new task as the Government spokesman in the coal city state.
