The Ondo State Police Command has confirmed the death of a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ese-Odo local government
Hon. Olumide Odimayo, who was kidnapped last Thursday by unknown gunmen.
He was kidnapped at his country home in Igbotu, Ese-Odo local government of the state.
Odimayo’s lifeless body was said to have been found today, Monday in a boat at Ogolo river – a boundary between Ese-Odo and Irele Local Government Areas.
Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mr Femi Joseph confirmed the death of the APC chieftain.
The police spokesperson described the death of Odimayo as unfortunate.
He said the command had arrested some persons in relation to the incident, saying, investigation was still ongoing.
“Yes, I can confirm the death of Odimayo which was discovered this morning. It is very unfortunate.
“We have arrested some individuals in connection with the death and they are all in our custody,” he said.
Femi Joseph said It was gathered that all efforts by local vigilante group and the police to rescue him proved abortive as the abductors kept moving into the swampy areas.
