Cristiano Ronaldo would have been a bigger ‘Galactico’ if he played in the same team as Zinedine Zidane, the Real Madrid coach has admitted.
Zidane was the jewel in the crown in the ‘Galactico’ era, with his stunning volley wining the 2002 Champions League final against Bayer Leverkuse.
However, this Saturday, Madrid will be looking to Ronaldo, as they seek to become the first side to retain the trophy for the first time in the modern era.
Asked if he or the Portugal captain would be the bigger star, Zidane was unequivocal: “Ronaldo no doubt.
Because he scores goals and that’s most important.
“I used to play very well but scoring was not my speciality, I scored some important goals but not many.”
