JUST IN!! FULL DETAILS: NNAMDI KANU'S ECOWAS COURT UPDATE (COMPREHENSIVE REPORT)

Today, Biafrans from different works of life and cities came out en-mass and assembled at ECOWAS Regional Court of Justice at Wuse in

Abuja, Nigeria, on the early hours of 18th May, 2017 in solidarity with the leader of IPOB worldwide- Citizen Nnamdi Kanu and to witness the court proceedings.

However, confusion ensued as it seems that there is no proper channel of communication between the ECOWAS court and lead legal counsel to Citizen Nnamdi Kanu.

While a good number of Biafrans were outside the ECOWAS Court premises waiting for the case between the plaintiff- citizen Nnamdi Kanu and the defendant- Nigerian government to commence; a clerk working in the court arrived.

He approached us and demanded to know what and why we were at the premises. We told him that the case between Citizen Nnamdi Kanu and Nigerian government was scheduled for ruling today, even as the Biafra flags were flying and hovering everywhere in the court premises.

Surprisingly, the clerk told us that we don’t have any case today, that they were notified about our leader’s case two days ago being 16th of May, but none of our counsels showed up when the case was called for hearing. We insisted. Probably, the clerk was not properly informed that the case was shifted to hold today, 18th of May 2017.

When the controversy became endless between Biafrans and the court clerk, they decided to put a call across to Barr. Ifeanyi Ejiofor the lead counsel, he answered the call and confirmed that our case holds for ruling today and was not held two days ago.

The ‘drama’ continued and Barr.Ejiofor made it categorically clear to the clerk that he was informed of the case this morning. He could not control his rage, he told the clerk to hang on, and as he arrived immediately he calmed the situation.

Bar. Ifeanyi Ejiofor the lead counsel then went inside the court to ascertain what went wrong, came out disappointed. While briefing us, he said that there was a misunderstanding on the date as a result of typographical error on the document he was served with.

Continuing, he said that the real date was supposed to be 16th May, 2017 and not 18th May, 2017 and as a result of that mistake the court proceedings has been stalled once again.

He therefore told us not to be deterred but to always remain resolute and committed because this case must be drawn to it’s successful and logical conclusion, in that justice must prevail at all times no matter how long it takes. He finally intimated us that the case has been adjourned once more to a new date which is 10th OCTOBER, 2017.
