Exclusive report reaching us, has revealed the reason why the approved 2017 Appropriation Bill by the National Assembly, has not gotten to the office of the Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo, 72-hours after its passage.
Recall, that Osinbajo’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Laolu Akande, in a statement on his Twitter handle, @akandeoj, revealed that the Presidency was yet receive the 2017 budget, as passed by the National Assembly.
“In response to several media inquiries on the 2017 budget, the Presidency is awaiting the document passed on Thursday, by the National Assembly.
“The administration is keenly awaiting official transmission of the formal budget document, and assured that this will happen soon”, Akande had said.
Reacting on why the formal budget document has not gotten to Osibanjo’s office after 72-hours, a top Senate source stated: “The office of the Acting President has not received it, because the document pages are over 600.
Before transmitting it to the Executive, each of the pages must be fully endorsed and signed by those that are concerned.
“It is not an easy task to sign over 600 pages worth of document. But we are assuring you that latest before Tuesday, the budget document will get to the Acting President.’’
It could be recalled, that the National Assembly had on Thursday, passed the 2017 Appropriation Bill, increasing the budget from N7.28 trillion earlier proposed by President Muhammadu Buhari, to N7.44 trillion.
