The Governor of Imo State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, has called on Anambra State Governor, Willie Obiano to start writing his
handover note, saying that nothing will stop the All Progressives Congress (APC) from taking over Anambra State in the November 18 poll.
Okorocha made the statement in Awka while inaugurating the Rochas Peoples Movement in Anambra state. The Governor, who was represented by the South-South/South-East coordinator of RPM, Dr. Simon Nwulu, said he owed the Igbo nation a duty of proper direction in Nigerian politics.
He explained that the main objective of the movement was to register grassroots presence in every nook and cranny of the state.
According to him, the Igbo people can no longer belong to regional political parties adding: “We must belong to the mainstream. APC is that place to belong.
“Anambra is critical in Igbo politics. So we shall all come down here to deliver the state to the ruling All Progressives Congress. We have the capacity, we have the capability.
“APC is the structure for the emancipation of the Igbo nation. No man born of a woman can stop us from taking over Anambra State, come November 18.
“At any polling unit during the election, no fewer than 63 members of Rochas Peoples Movement would be present to man the units and protect our votes. That’s the magic.
“We shall bring down the Imo formula down here and by the time we had finished Obiano and APGA would just pack and go.”
While calling on the members of the movement to have their voter’s cards handy, Okorocha maintained that possession of a voter’s card is the major criterion for confirmation of appointments.
He also urged ward coordinators of the movement to mobilize APC members to register in the ongoing voter registration exercise for the purpose of the November18 election. In his speech, the Anambra State coordinator of the movement, Chief Olisa Onyeka, thanked Okorocha for coming over to help.
“You have demonstrated the brother’s keeper spirit for which the Igbo are known.
“We are assuring you that we are ever ready to deliver Anambra State to APC in that election,” Onyeka said. Meanwhile, the APC has called on the state government to desist from destroying the posters of its governorship aspirants in the state.
Speaking through a press statement made available to Journalists in Awka, the Publicity Secretary of APC in the state, Mr. Okelo Madukaife said the Governor was inviting anarchy through such action.
It would be recalled that the Anambra State Signage and Adverting Agency had levied governorship aspirants in the state N9 million each before they could paste their posters in any part of the state.
The statement reads in part: “Our great chapter in our dynamic party warns Governor Willie Obiano to stay away from the posters of APC aspirants and those of other political parties, irrespective of the guise and guile applied.
“This statement has become necessary in the light of a despotic set of announcements, put out and running in the Anambra Broadcasting Service (ABS) to the effect that ‘some indiscriminate posters are lying on the streets of Anambra State, thereby defacing the environment’ and signalling that government will ‘take action’.”

While urging the state government to avoid undue interference from interested parties acting in disguise, the party further said they will employ all lawful steps to protect the right of their candidates to market their candidature to the Anambra voting public.
