The Police on Saturday paraded the Administrator of Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State, Taofiq Isah; his police orderly, Sgt. James Ede, and four others in connection with the reported assassination attempt on Senator Dino Melaye in Kogi State.
Melaye was reportedly attacked in his home on April 15, 2017.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Jimoh Moshood paraded the suspects at the Force Headquarters, Abuja.
He gave their names as Isah, Ede, Ade Obage, Abdullahi Isah, Ahmed Ajayi, and Michael Bamidele.
He explained that one ambulance Hyundai bus, five AK 47 rifles, one Berreta pistol, two locally made single barrel shot gun, 25 expended shells of 7.62 mm ammunition, 13 expended shells of 9mm ammunition and 12 expended shells gauge cartridge were recovered from the suspects.
“The firearms have been sent for ballistic expert examination, test and analysis at the Force Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department in Lagos,” Moshood disclosed.
He added that the Ijimu council boss allegedly directed one Abdulmumuni, his personal assistant to recruit the gang members that carried out the attack.
