Policemen Forced Us to Sign False Statements, Nearly Killed Us - Traveller Brutalised in Delta Opens Up

Damilola Adeyanju, one of the two men that were maltreated by the police on their way from a wedding in Delta State, last weekend has opened up.

According to Punch Metro, the man in a phone conversation, described his encounter with some men who were in SARS uniform as “horrendous and disappointing.”

He was also convinced that the men couldn’t possibly be members of the Nigerian Police Force, considering the “murderous ways” they were dealt with.

Adeyanju said, “Our encounters with these men in SARS uniform is sad and horrendous. Considering the way they nearly murdered us in cold blood, the horrendous lies they told against us, the lying statements they made us sign and the unprovoked beatings they gave us, I have every cause to believe that they weren’t trained to be law enforcement agents.

“And if they happen to be policemen as they want us to believe, then Nigeria is doomed!

“They extorted N80,000 from us before they released our laptops and phones. They made us sign statements we did not write or read.

“How can policemen act so despicably?”
He added, “The activities of these men is a dent on the image of a Federal Government that claims to be fighting graft and gross indiscipline.

“No professional organisation should have such beasts on their staff list because they are a further dent on the already bad image of the Police.

“I expect the Inspector General of Police to consider our story and fish out these murderers in Police uniform. They have no business being in the Force at all.”
