The Buhari Support Organisation, BSO, Enugu State chapter, Monday, described as insulting, the harsh critic of President Muhammadu Buhari’s Easter message by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The BSO has, therefore, demanded for apology from the former ruling party “over the damage inflicted on the Nigerian economy by the unconscionable and unbridled
corrupt immediate past administration of Dr Goodluck Jonathan.”
The group spoke through its Publicity Secretary, Mr Eze Chibueze, in reaction to a statement issued by the Ahmed Markarfi faction of the PDP in criticism of President Muhammadu Buhari’s Easter message.
Enugu BSO called on the PDP “to
apologise to Nigerians, instead of insulting our collective intelligence with their nebulous economic policy which impoverished 99 percent millions of Nigerians.”
The Makarfi faction had in a statement through its spokesman, Dayo
Adeyeye stated that: “The immediate past PDP government of Dr Goodluck
Jonathan grew Nigeria’s GDP from $270.5 billion in 2009, and handed
over a Nigeria that had grown to become the fastest growing and
largest economy in Africa and 24th largest in the world with GDP of
$574 billion in May, 2015, alongside a single digit inflation rate.”
But in a counter statement by its spokesman, Chibueze, BSO said they
were at a loss “why and how this innocent and Godly statement in Mr.
President’s Easter message elicited the invectives from the spokesman
of a faction of the PDP, Prince Dayo Adeyeye.”
Chibueze stated further: “Whilst we are trying to stop reminding Nigerians of the grave harm and enduring injury done to the Nigerian economy by the unconscionable and unbridled corrupt Jonathan regime, a regime which earned over $250 billion from oil and gas sales between 2009-2014 and siphoned billions with phony sub-heads authored by the then Minister of Finance and coordinator of the economy, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.
“We are amazed that a fractured political party is calling bailout funds for unpaid salary and pension arrears, Buhari paid immediately on assumption of office, payment of Paris Funds squandered serially for over a decade and policy of reviving federal
roads in the interest of the greatest number of Nigerians inconsequential.
“It is truism that the Buhari regime since inception had followed the
fine tenets of the Manifesto of our great party, the All Progressives
Congress (APC), which are transparency, accountability, pro-people and founded on the ideological spectrum of social democracy, in the midst of dwindling oil sales; unlike the anti-people nebulous economic
policy of the PDP which paradoxically created the richest man in one
hand in Africa and on the other hand the poorest people in Africa. Buhari wants to restore the middle class.”
“We are still waiting for either the $23 billion 3-Greenfield-Refineries launched with fanfare on May 13, 2010, to be located in Lagos, Bayelsa and Kogi States or the $23 billion siphoned for the project by the Jonathan’s regime.
And the proceeds of auctioned federal government properties like Transcorp Hilton.
Therefore PDP should apologise for the grave harm done to Nigerians”,
BSO stated.
The group further concurred with President Buhari that “the change which we all yearn for, would certainly occur more rapidly if we all place the
love of our country above selfish personal and group interests, as
well as his assurances to all Nigerians that his government would do
its utmost best to ensure that the 2016 budget, the first since his
election as President, was efficiently and successfully implemented
towards achieving his administration’s objective of faster economic
growth and development.”
Part of President Buhari’s Easter message had read: “Fellow Nigerians,
I rejoice with you all, especially our Christian brothers and sisters,
as we celebrate Easter for Christians all over the world, this celebration is in commemoration of the supreme sacrifice which Jesus Christ made for the salvation of mankind. The Gospels also tell us that during his earthly ministry, Jesus Christ repeatedly urged his disciples and followers to ‘love one another as I have loved you…’
“As we go forward, I assure you all that we are working very hard to
overcome the challenges we encountered on assumption of office. We are moving on with an unshaken resolve and determination to deliver on the mandate you gave us on March 28, last year. I wish you all very happy Easter celebrations.”
