Zaki Biam killings: SJTF Says They Recovers Arms, Ammunition

SPECIAL Joint Task Force set up by the presidency, following the recent massacre in Zaki-Biam, Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State has recovered hundreds of arms and ammunition that allegedly belongs to a dreaded criminal, Terwase Akwaza, popularly known as Ghana.

 

 

The Task Force, headed by a Commissioner of Police, Bello Ahmed, displayed the recovered arms yesterday at the Government House, Makurdi. Special Adviser to Governor Samuel Ortom on Security Matters, Colonel Edwin Jando, rtd, said they were recovered from a bunker belonging to Ghana at Gbishe in Katsina-Ala Local Government Area, adding that several persons have been taken to Abuja on the development, while interrogation is ongoing. According to Jando, some of the items recovered include three AK47, Mack 4, nine pistols, hundreds of magazines, spear, three grenades and an anti-craft weapon. When asked when securityagencies will apprehend Ghana, Bello said his days are already numbered. Governor Samuel Ortom, on his part, lauded security agencies for the prompt and proactive steps in closing up on Ghana and urged them not to rest on their oars in ensuring that he is apprehended.

 

The governor called on the people to give information to security agencies, maintaining that his administration will not allow anyone to possess illegal arms and terrorise innocent people. In a related development, the Benue State Police Command, yesterday, paraded over 30 criminals arrested for various crimes. The Commissioner of Police, Bashir Makama, who briefed newsmen on the development, said out of the number, 11 suspects were apprehended and charged to a magistrate court in connection with farmers, herdsmen conflict.

 

“On April 3 at about 2 am, a group was arrested with over 200 cows rustled from Agatu. Five of the young men, including a member of the Civilian Joint Task Force, one Emmanuel Edoh, forced the cows into a vehicle and in the process, two of them died. They have been arrested”, Makama said
