Pay Salaries of Political Appointees - PDP Urge Akeredolu

The Ondo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party on Tuesday appealed to the state government to pay the salaries of members of the party, who were political appointees during the immediate past administration of Dr. Olusegun Mimiko.

The opposition party alleged that the governor, in February 2017 ordered for payment of a month salary to Mimiko, the immediate former deputy governor, the immediate former chief of staff and the immediate former secretary to the state government but left other appointees unpaid.

Expressing his displeasure over the development at a press briefing in Akure, the Ondo State capital, the state chairman of the party, Mr. Clement Faboyede said Akeredolu should realise that he had become the governor of the entire state and he should not be selective in his dealing with the people of the state, irrespective of their political affiliations.

He said, “Political appointees are being short-changed, I am aware that he has paid for February. He paid the past governor, deputy and the SSG but other have not been paid.

“We want to appeal to him to emulate his predecessors. When Agagu got to power in 2003, he paid the political appointees of Chief Adefarati and when Mimiko also got to power in 2009, he paid the salaries of all the appointees of Dr. Agagu. ”

Faboyede also frowned at the alleged non-payment of salaries of political appointees at the local government level. The names of the local councils appointed were allegedly removed from the payment vouchers of the local councils last month.
