The Anambra Governorship Election will hold on November 18, 2017, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced.
This was confirmed via their official Twitter handle on Thursday.
The tweet read: “Breaking: Anambra State Governorship Election is scheduled to hold on 18th November, 2017 as approved by the Commission.”
Although political parties have not nominated candidates yet, some politicians from the state have expressed interest in the race.
On Tuesday, Senator Andy Uba, who represents Anambra South, formally announced his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Observers say he may run for the governorship office on the platform of the ruling party.
Incumbent Governor Willie Obiano may also seek a second term.
