Ikpeazu Escapes Death In Aba

Wednesday was foiled by armed security agents attached to the convoy of Abia State Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu.

The incident which happened around 8pm on Wednesday, at Aba/ Owerri road in Aba,Abia state.
started when the convoy of the Governor was returning to Aba from work in Umuahia,Abia state capital and noticed a parked luxurious bus with passengers lying on the floor.

As the robbers noticed the pilot Hilux van which was coming without siren and amber light, they apparently thought it was a single security patrol vehicle and opened fire before the security agents on the convoy retaliated with sporadic gunshots as the robbers abandoned their victims and ran away.

While the governor escaped unhurt as no member

of his security team was injured, the situation caused great panic with residents of the area fearing for the worst. Business owners hurriedly closed shop while several police patrol teams stormed the area.

Residents of Aba paints the situation as regrettable that Ikpeazu is watching with little efforts with the commercial city of Aba fast returning to a theatre of kidnapping and other violent crimes which was the order of the day in 2010 when businessmen and residents fled the city.

The Governor has ordered security agents to go on full manhunt for the robbers and bring them to justice.

Meanwhile,Ikpeazu has never slept at the Governor’s Lodge at Umuahia since he was inaugurated as Abia state governor.
