Just In : Buhari Should Resign - Iroegbu

Multiple award-winning movie producer and director, Dickson Iroegbu, has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to resign, if he

knows within himself that he can no longer discharge the functions of his office, otherwise he should forget excuses and fix the problems rocking the nation.

Dickson made this call while addressing a cross-section of youths who gathered in Abuja to discuss the way forward for Nigeria.

He said that President Buhari is sanctioning corruption, which he promised Nigerians to fight, by remaining defiant to the demand made by the National Assembly and well-meaning Nigerians that the secretary to Government of Federation, David Babachir Lawal be sack for allegedly embezzling over N200 million earmarked for cutting grass at IDP camps in Borno.

Iroegbu urged the National Assembly to continue to speak-out on behalf of the people, adding that the people might rise against them.

He lampooned the youths for abusing the government on the social media but lazy to heed the call for a peaceful protest aimed at communicating to the government the pains and hardships felt by the people.

He said: “If Buhari wants to resign, let him resign but if he won’t, let him fix our nation. Trump on arrival started moving immediately. So, there are no excuses anymore.

“We appreciate that our nation may have had some issues before now but that’s why you asked for this mandate for 12 years somehow, you even wept and you came to say you weren’t doing again but we said; ‘Come and lead us’.

“Nigerians called you out, made you President, you promised us that you were going to fight corruption, but your SGF, who has taken personal credit as being a member of your cabal is corrupt, and you are quiet. That means you are sanctioning corruption. The fight against corruption must be holistic, must be all-inclusive.

“I also want to say to the National Assembly, this is that moment when you activate the mandate people gave to you. We gave you the mandate to speak on our behalf. Speak now or forever we sack you out of that place.

“Young people should appreciate today that your government should never intimidate you It is very wrong for us to seat back at home and be tweeting and abusing government and when they say, let’s protest, and you seat back at home. It is wrong and that’s bad habit.”
