Death rumour: We did not vote for ‘photoshopped’ pictures, produce Buhari now – Nigerians demand

A section of Nigerians have expressed disappointment at the Presidency for allegedly releasing what they called ‘photo shopped’ photos of President Muhammadu Buhari.

This is coming after some unconfirmed reports made the rounds that the president, who is currently on a 10-day vacation in the UK, died.

The presidency had released new photos of Buhari, describing the report as unfounded., but the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC among others, had challenged him to speak to prove he is alive.

.

Also, the photo of the president in a relaxed mood with some of his visitors, including Ogun State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun, had caused a stir as some Nigerians had faulted the images, saying Gov. Amosun is currently in Ogun..

As at the time of filing this report, however, the President is yet to speak despite controversies.

DAILY POST is reporting that Nigerians have called on the aides of the president to produce Buhari amid speculations surrounding his health.

In an interview with DAILY POST, a branch manager with a new generation bank, Kayode Folarin said “Buhari is sick. Let’s watch, he may not even come back on the said date. The issues is they are just playing politics. All these politicians know that if Buhari dies, there will be chaos because the northerner’s will not give chance to another region to become president.

“Buhari better wait till 2019 before he dies, so he will just go peacefully at the end of his supposed tenure.”

An Assistant Director with the Natonal Youth Service Corps, NYSC, who does not want his name mentioned, said “There is a plot to eliminate Osibanjo, so ‘if’ Buhari dies, he will not in any way automatically become president. They won’t succeed, although, he has to be careful.”

Asked if he believes the president is still alive, he said, “I don’t know o but if he is, why are they posting ‘old pictures? Why can’t he speak to us? I don’t understand the madness in the Presidency.”

Also, in a random search, DAILY POST dug into Facebook reactions from Nigerians on the much publicized rumoured death of the president.

A Facebook user, Obinna Agudi wrote: “One thing I understand is when someone dies, the next thing they do is to post the person’s pictures because the person cannot talk.”

“Kenneth Bisong: “Which one is Buhari? The one seated and wearing black, or the one standing at the back? Because one is as skinny as the other. We want a video of the president speaking, not these photoshops.”

Lonuoye Daniel: “Give us video. Today’s technology is advanced, we want videos not pictures. We are tired of pictures, make him come back.”

MC Mandela JP: “Another picture will come out before 4th of Febraury but only fools will believe that.”

Haruna Maitala: “Nigerians should be ready for another civil war if President Muhammadu Buhari dies.”

Juliet Chinyere: “Did Nigerians vote for Buhari to be sending pictures of himself from the UK to us in Nigeria? What is the meaning of this? I really don’t understand.”

Meanwhile, Buhari is expected back in Nigeria on February 6.
